DID Press: UN Secretary-General António Guterres welcomed signing of the “UN Convention against Cybercrime,” describing it as a landmark global agreement aimed at safeguarding people in the digital era.

“The digital age has shortened distances and expanded opportunities, but every revolution casts a shadow — cyberspace has become fertile ground for criminals,” Guterres said in a statement on Saturday.
He added that the world must ensure the digital age brings peace, security, and prosperity for all. “This convention, the first criminal justice treaty in more than two decades, must now be turned from signatures into action to make cyberspace safe and secure for everyone,” he said.
