DID Press: Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, leader of Afghanistan’s Hezb-e-Islami party, urged the people and parliament of Pakistan to restrain “irresponsible” statements by their officials amid escalating tensions between Kabul and Islamabad.

In a recent note shared by his son, Habib-ur-Rahman Hekmatyar, on social media, Hekmatyar criticized what he described as the silence of Pakistan’s public and lawmakers in response to threats from government officials.
“Why does no one stop these irresponsible statements?” he asked, warning that the two Muslim countries are on the brink of a dangerous conflict. He highlighted the forced expulsion of millions of Afghanistani migrants from Pakistan, the destruction of their homes, and called it a violation of basic human decency.
Hekmatyar further alleged that the current crisis aligns with what “India wants to happen” and questioned why groups such as the BLA and TTP are taking revenge on Afghanistan civilians and migrants. He claimed that attacks by these groups began during NATO’s presence in Afghanistan and accused the U.S. of allowing India to train Pakistan’s armed opposition.
He concluded by urging Islamabad to adopt a “new, constructive, and lasting” policy toward Afghanistan, emphasizing that disputes should be resolved through dialogue without interference in each other’s internal affairs.
