EU, Central Asian Representatives Hold Talks on Afghanistan in Brussels

DID Press: The seventh meeting of special representatives from the European Union and Central Asian countries on Afghanistan was held Thursday in Brussels, Belgium.

The session was co-hosted by Raimonds Staprīns, the EU Special Representative for Central Asia, and the EU Special Representative for Afghanistan. Delegations from Slovenia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan attended to discuss the latest developments in Afghanistan and ways to enhance regional cooperation.

According to a statement from the EU Special Representative, participants stressed the importance of a coordinated, regional approach toward Afghanistan and called for strengthened collaboration among regional partners to support stability and development in the country.

The meeting also included exchanges on Central Asian countries’ perspectives regarding Afghanistan’s security, humanitarian, and economic situation, with an emphasis on the continuation of regular EU–Central Asia dialogues.
