Kabul to Host 2025 Int’l Badminton Championships

DID Press: Kabul has been selected to host the 2025 International Badminton Open, featuring athletes from Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, and Syria.

The tournament will take place from December 12 to 18 at the Sports Hall of the Kabul Physical Training Directorate, which accommodates 2,500 spectators and is one of the largest and most advanced sports facilities in the capital.

Teams from Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, and Syria will compete, with four Uzbek athletes already arriving to join the other participants, according to Ahmadullah Wathiq, Director General of the Afghanistan Olympic and Sports Committee.

Organizers note that the event will enhance the technical level of Afghan athletes and provide a platform to strengthen regional sports and cultural relations. Officials also hope the championship will contribute to the growth of badminton in Afghanistan and expand international sporting interactions.
