Kabul, Tehran Push to Expand Academic Cooperation
DID Press: Acting Minister of Higher Education of the Taliban government made an official trip to Iran, visiting universities and religious centers in Qom province. During meetings with academic officials, both sides emphasized strengthening educational cooperation, exchanging academic experiences, and expanding institutional ties between Afghanistan and Iran.

According to the Ministry of Higher Education, Neda Mohammad Nadim, the Acting Minister, visited several academic centers during his trip to the Islamic Republic of Iran, including universities in Qom, Al-Mustafa International University, and the Qom Seminary. The purpose of this visit was to review shared academic capacities and discuss opportunities for expanding scientific cooperation between the two countries.
The ministry’s spokesperson said that Nadim held separate meetings with officials of Iranian academic and religious institutions, discussing the enhancement of educational cooperation, exchange of scientific expertise, and increased engagement between academic centers in Afghanistan and Iran. Nadim stressed that promoting such cooperation could play a significant role in raising the academic standards of Afghan students.
During these meetings, Sayed Abdulhamid Sabet, the head of Al-Mustafa International University’s office in Afghanistan, delivered a report on the institution’s academic, research, and cultural activities. He noted that Al-Mustafa aims to educate religiously committed students and contemporary scholars, and that hundreds of students have graduated from its various academic programs.
Officials of Iranian universities and scientific institutions welcomed Nadim’s visit and expressed readiness to expand academic, educational, and research cooperation with Afghanistan.
