2-Day Tehran Conference on Afghanistan to Begin Tomorrow

DID Press: Iran will host a two-day regional conference on Afghanistan in Tehran on (December 15–16), bringing together special envoys from neighboring countries and major Asian powers. A joint statement is expected at the conclusion of the meeting.

According to informed sources, special representatives from Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, China, and Russia will participate in the conference.

Pakistan will be represented by Mohammad Sadiq, Special Representative for Afghanistan, Obaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, Pakistan’s ambassador to Kabul, and Mudassir Tipu, Pakistan’s ambassador to Tehran.

The meeting will also include Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s presidential envoy for Afghanistan, Yue Xiaoyong, China’s special envoy on Afghanistan, as well as presidential representatives from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to address the conference. Discussions will focus on developments in Afghanistan, regional security, and cooperation among neighboring countries.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Iran attaches fundamental importance to security and stability in its neighborhood, a priority that forms the core agenda of the regional conference.
