Pak Envoy: Terrorists in Afghanistan Undermines Regional Security, Economic Cooperation

DID Press: Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan warned that widespread presence of militant groups in Afghanistan poses a serious threat to regional security and obstructs economic cooperation among neighboring countries.

“The continued activity of terrorist groups in Afghanistan not only creates security risks but also hinders the expansion of regional economic and transit cooperation,” said Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s special envoy, after meetings with representatives of China and Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the Tehran meeting.

In a post on the social media platform X, he wrote that participating countries agreed that countering these threats requires “collective and coordinated efforts.” The meeting of special representatives of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries was held on Sunday, (Dec. 14), hosted by Iran, though the Taliban did not attend.
