KAbul: 2.8M Migrants Returned, Social Support Programs Expanded

DID Press: Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson of Taliban authorities, says more than 2.8 million Afghanistan citizens and migrants returned to the country over the past year from various states.

The returns were “managed” in a way that allowed most families to be resettled, receive basic services, and begin the process of receiving housing plots in newly planned residential townships, According to Mujahid.

At the same time, authorities in major cities identified and collected 10,664 homeless individuals and beggars. Mujahid said each vulnerable person was allocated a cash grant of 2,000 Afghanis as part of emergency assistance measures.

On water management, he added that construction or completion work on nine major dams progressed during the year, while 341 small dams were newly built. The measures, he said, are intended to improve water management and help mitigate recurring water-related crises across the country.
