Pakistan: No Intent to Change Afghanistan’s Political System

DID Press: Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson reiterated that Afghanistan’s political system is solely the decision of its people, and Islamabad has no plans to alter it.

Speaking at a weekly press briefing, Tahir Andarabi emphasized Pakistan’s readiness to cooperate with the current Kabul administration and advance bilateral relations through “constructive engagement.”

However, ties between Kabul and Islamabad remain strained following October’s deadly attacks in Pakistan. Islamabad accused Afghan Taliban of allowing the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to operate from Afghan territory.

Pakistani officials have warned that continued cross-border threats could prompt unilateral actions against the Taliban. According to security sources, recent airstrikes in Afghanistan highlight an unprecedented escalation in tensions between the two neighbors since the Taliban’s return to power.
