Taliban Reject UN Findings on Rise in Synthetic Drug Use in Afghanistan

DID Press: Abdul Matin Qani, spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of Interior, rejected recent UNODC report about the rise in synthetic drug use in Afghanistan, citing limitations in the survey’s data.

Qani emphasized that the survey, which was conducted over a year ago, was limited to a few districts and does not accurately reflect the situation across the entire country.

He further asserted that cannabis cultivation in Afghanistan has ceased and that synthetic drugs are primarily trafficked into the country from neighboring nations.

Qani also criticized the international community’s lack of recognition for the Taliban’s achievements in the fight against drugs over the past four years, pointing out lack of practical cooperation on this issue.
