DID Press: A senior Taliban official described tensions between Iran and US as a civilizational confrontation rather than a purely political dispute, portraying Iran’s resistance to Washington as part of a broader historical struggle.

Abdul Latif Nazari, deputy minister of economy in Taliban government, said regional developments should be understood as a structural and civilizational clash between what he called the “front of truth” and the “front of falsehood,” Speaking at a ceremony in Kabul marking the 47th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.
Nazari described Iran’s stance against the United States as a clear example of this long-standing confrontation, adding that relations between Afghanistan and Iran are “deep, natural and organic.”
He said efforts to create divisions between the two nations would fail, stressing that ties have expanded since the Taliban returned to power on the basis of brotherhood, good neighborliness and mutual respect.
