Taliban Reviewed Proposal for Cargo Handling Center at Islam Qala Port
DID Press: Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government reviewed a proposal to establish a standardized cargo loading and unloading center at Islam Qala Port in Herat province, according to officials.

The proposal was discussed during a recent meeting of the government’s Inter-Ministerial Investment Committee, held at the Marble Palace. Participants emphasized that establishing such a facility could streamline import and export procedures, accelerate the movement of goods for traders, and bring greater order and efficiency to commercial operations.
Officials noted the project could play a significant role in strengthening trade activities and enhancing infrastructure at one of the country’s key border crossings.
At the end of the meeting, it was decided that a technical committee would be formed to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the proposal. The committee is expected to present its findings at the next session for final decision-making.
