Pakistani Drones Reported Over Kabul, Kandahar, and Ghazni Skies

DID Press: Local sources report that Pakistani military drones have been flying over Kabul, Kandahar, and Ghazni in recent days.

According to residents, reconnaissance drones operated by the Pakistani army have repeatedly flown at low altitudes over parts of these provinces during the past five days. Many locals noted the audible drone activity, particularly at night, and several flights occurred in multiple shifts.

These reports come amid heightened security tensions between Islamabad and the Taliban in recent months. Pakistani officials have repeatedly claimed that Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) members are operating from Afghan territory to target Pakistan—a claim rejected by the Taliban, who maintain that Afghan soil is not used against other countries.

In recent weeks, some Pakistani authorities have mentioned potential “preventive measures” against security threats, raising concerns about continued surveillance flights or limited cross-border operations.

Security analysts highlight that Afghanistan currently lacks advanced air defense systems and an integrated flight monitoring network, making such drone incursions a recurring challenge. They warn that the continuation of these flights could pose a serious challenge to Afghan air sovereignty.

The Taliban have not issued an official response to these latest reports, though in previous instances they have described similar drone flights as violations of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty.
