Russia Security Council Blames British Colonial Borders for Pakistan–Afghanistan Tensions

DID Press: Security Council of Russia said escalating tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan are the result of Britain’s colonial policies and arbitrary borders drawn by London, urging an end to what it described as lingering imperial ambitions.

In a statement, the council said the current round of tensions is “clearly the consequence of the harmful colonial policies of UK and the arbitrary borders drawn by London.” “As Britain seeks to create new dividing lines in today’s world, its “imperial ambitions must be brought to an end,” it added.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating situation along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border, the council called on both sides to resolve existing disputes as soon as possible through political and diplomatic channels, stressing the need for peaceful settlement of conflicts between the two countries.
