Over 15,000 Foreign Nationals Granted Work Permits in Afghanistan
DID Press: Authorities in Afghanistan say more than 15,000 foreign nationals have received work permits over the past four years, according to the country’s Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

The ministry stated that most of the workers come from China, Turkey and Iran, with the majority employed in Afghanistan’s private sector.
Samiullah Ebrahimi, spokesperson for the ministry, said work permits are issued for a one-year period and can be renewed if employers continue to require the workers’ services. If the demand ends, the individuals are expected to return to their home countries.
Officials say the policy is intended to help meet the need for specialized labor while supporting the development of the private sector.
The ministry added that regulated employment of foreign professionals could contribute to economic activity and job creation within Afghanistan.
