Taliban Minister Warns Pakistan of “Decisive Response” to Any Aggression

DID Press: Afghanistan will not accept “subservience” or political dependence on Pakistan, Taliban Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Abdul Latif Mansour said in unusually strong remarks directed at Islamabad.

Mansour made the comments during the inauguration of a small dam in Afghanistan’s Paktia province, telling Pakistan not to expect its past support for the Taliban to translate into political dependence or obedience from Kabul.

He acknowledged that Pakistan had supported the Taliban during its war against the United States, saying the group did not deny that assistance. However, he said such support could not provide a basis for Islamabad to expect Afghanistan to become its “servant” or submit to its demands.

Referring to Afghanistan’s history of wars against foreign powers, Mansour said: “We did not accept the servitude of Russia or America. Who are you that we should accept yours?”

The Taliban minister said Afghanistan wants to engage with Pakistan on the basis of “Islamic principles,” but warned that continued pressure or hostile actions against Afghanistan could have serious consequences for Pakistan.

Mansour warned that if aggression against Afghanistan continues, Pakistan would face a “decisive” and “crushing” response, similar to what Afghans had demonstrated against the Soviet Union and the United States.

He stressed that Afghans would not accept domination by any foreign power.

Mansour’s unusually confrontational remarks could signal a harder Taliban stance toward Islamabad, shifting from acknowledgment of Pakistan’s past support toward a stronger emphasis on political independence and warnings over the consequences of renewed pressure.
