Iran’s Supreme Leader: Strait of Hormuz Closed to US and Allies

DID Press: Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the third leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain open for ships from all countries, but the US, Israel, and their allies will be excluded from this rule.

According to the Iranian leader, the decision is part of Iran’s broader policy response to pressure and hostile actions by the United States and Israel. He said the measure aims to protect national interests and respond to security threats.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints, through which a significant share of the region’s oil and gas exports passes on the way to global markets. Any restrictions in this strategic waterway could have major consequences for global energy trade and the international economy.

So far, officials in the United States and Israel have not issued an official response to the statement.
