UN Chief Warns Muslims Face Widespread Discrimination Worldwide
DID Press: António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, said Muslims around the world continue to face unfair discrimination, institutional bias, and socio-economic exclusion. His remarks came on the occasion of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia.

Guterres stated that Muslims in many parts of the world are frequently subjected to unjustified surveillance, discriminatory profiling, and unequal treatment—practices that, he warned, undermine human dignity and the principle of equality.
The UN chief emphasized that the day serves as an opportunity for the international community to renew its commitment to equality, human rights, and the dignity of all people, regardless of their religion or beliefs.
He called on governments and societies to intensify efforts to counter hate speech, discrimination, and anti-Muslim stereotypes, and to work toward building more inclusive and just societies.
