Top Afghan Striker Slams National Football System: “Either Money or Connections”

DID Press: Sohrab Afghan, Afghanistan’s all-time leading scorer in domestic football, sharply criticized the country’s football system following his exclusion from upcoming national team matches.

In a post on his social media page, Sohrab Afghan wrote: “In Afghanistan, either you have money or connections,” a statement that quickly went viral among fans and sparked debates over transparency and player selection for the national team.

His omission from the squad has also drawn reactions from supporters, some of whom described the decision as controversial.

While the Afghanistan Football Federation has not issued an official statement regarding the matter, sports analysts suggest that such remarks highlight structural challenges in player selection and football management in the country.

Sohrab Afghan has been one of Afghanistan’s most prominent football figures over the past years, with a notable record in domestic competitions.
