12 Airlines Now Operating in Afghanistan as Aviation Sector Expands

DID Press: Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Taliban announced that 12 airlines are currently operating regular flights across Afghanistan, including 10 international carriers and two domestic companies. Officials said the growing number of active airlines reflects ongoing efforts to rebuild and modernize the country’s aviation sector.

According to the ministry’s latest report, a network of five international airports and 22 domestic airfields is now operational nationwide, providing services for both passenger travel and commercial cargo transport. These facilities play a critical role in connecting Afghanistan to regional and global destinations while supporting domestic mobility.

Authorities emphasized that cargo transportation has become increasingly important alongside passenger services, contributing to the expansion of international trade and strengthening the national economy. The ministry noted that the steady rise in airline operations and regular flight schedules demonstrates continued recovery and development in Afghanistan’s aviation industry after years of disruption.
