UN Chief Condemns Indonesian Peacekeeper Death in Lebanon

DID Press: António Guterres, UN Secretary-General, issued a statement on Monday (March 30), condemning the death of an Indonesian peacekeeper during recent clashes between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

Expressing his deep sorrow, Guterres extended condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the fallen peacekeeper and wished a speedy recovery to another heavily injured peacekeeper.

He warned that this incident is just one of several recent events endangering the security and safety of UN peacekeepers. Guterres also urged all parties to uphold their obligations under international law and to ensure the protection and safety of UN personnel and assets at all times.
