Kabul Municipality to Build 3 New Flyovers to Ease Traffic Congestion

DID Press: Kabul Municipality announced that, in order to reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility in the capital, construction work on three new vehicular overpasses will soon begin in heavily congested areas of Kabul.

According to municipal officials, the projects are part of broader urban development and traffic management plans and will be implemented in routes with the highest vehicle density.

Authorities said the exact locations of the flyovers were determined after technical and traffic assessments, with the main goals being to reduce congestion, shorten travel times within the city, and improve road safety.

Eng. Mohammad Qasim Afghan, head of planning and supervision at Kabul Municipality, stated that “with the implementation of these projects, part of the traffic pressure on major highways will be reduced and citizens’ mobility will significantly improve.”

He added that these initiatives are part of long-term efforts to modernize Kabul’s urban infrastructure, alongside other planned road expansion and traffic system improvement projects.

Residents of Kabul have long complained about increasing traffic congestion, a lack of overpasses, and slow movement in busy parts of the city. Experts also believe that such infrastructure projects can play an important role in reducing the capital’s traffic problems.
