ISIS Claims Responsibility for Attack on Hazara Shiites in Quetta

DID Press: Terrorist organization Islamic State – Khorasan Province has claimed responsibility for an armed attack targeting Hazara Shiites in Quetta, capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province.

In a statement, the group said it carried out the assault in the Hazarganji area. Local reports indicate at least two people were killed and three others injured, with some victims in critical condition.

According to Pakistani police officials, the attack occurred as members of the Hazara Shiite community were returning to Hazara Town after shopping at the Hazarganji vegetable market. Gunmen on motorcycles opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Quetta and the Hazara community have repeatedly faced militant attacks in recent years, raising ongoing concerns over minority security.
