DID Press: UN Women has reported that since the start of recent hostilities in Gaza, more than 38,000 women and girls have lost their lives, highlighting the severe humanitarian toll of the conflict on civilians.

According to the report, Sofia Calltorp stated that the figure includes approximately 22,000 women and 16,000 girls. She added that, on average, at least 47 women and girls have been killed each day during the ongoing attacks.

The United Nations data also indicates that nearly 11,000 additional women and girls have been injured, many of whom are now facing permanent disabilities as a result of their wounds.

UN Women expressed deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, warning that the continuation of current conditions will have serious long-term consequences, particularly for women and children, and called for urgent attention from the international community to address the crisis.
