Uruzgan Dried Fruit Traders Warn of Market and Cold Storage Shortages

DID Press: Traders of dried fruits in Afghanistan’s southern Uruzgan Province say the lack of proper markets and standard cold storage facilities is creating serious challenges for their businesses.

According to local traders, the absence of structured sales markets and modern storage infrastructure has exposed them to repeated financial losses. They also report that seasonal heavy rainfall regularly damages their products, further worsening economic losses.

The traders are calling on authorities to establish a well-equipped storage and sales center to support the growth of the dried fruit sector in the province.

Meanwhile, officials from the Uruzgan Chamber of Industries and Mines stated that 90 jeribs of land have been allocated for the construction of a large commercial facility, and practical work on the project is expected to begin soon.
