Karzai Says His Daughter Denied In-Person Schooling After Grade 6

DID Press: Former Afghan president Hamid Karzai stated in an interview with Der Spiegel that his eldest daughter has been barred from continuing in-person education after completing grade six and is now studying online.

Karzai said the restrictions on girls’ education in Afghanistan have affected even his own family. He noted that his eldest daughter can no longer attend school physically, while continuing her studies through remote learning.

He added that his middle daughter is currently in grade six but will also soon face the same limitation. His youngest daughter, he said, is presently in grade three.

The former president reiterated his commitment to advocating for women’s rights and access to education, stating that he would continue efforts to restore what he described as fundamental rights, particularly the right of girls to attend school.
