DID Press: Iran’s Supreme Leader (Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei) said that the future of the Persian Gulf will be shaped without the presence of United States, stressing regional self-reliance and opposition to foreign intervention.

In a message marking Iran’s National Persian Gulf Day, he highlighted the strategic importance of the waterway and the Strait of Hormuz in regional identity, security, and global trade.
He said the region has historically faced foreign intervention and described past Western presence as a source of instability. He further emphasized Iran’s role in safeguarding maritime security and resisting external influence.
The statement added that recent developments reflect a shift toward what he described as a “new regional order,” where local nations assume responsibility for security and cooperation.
He also stressed that regional countries are “co-destined” in the shared maritime space and rejected the presence of distant powers, saying they have no legitimate place in the Persian Gulf.
The message concluded that, in his view, the future of the region will be defined by independence, stability, and economic progress without external military presence.
