UAE Restricts Transit of Afghan Traders’ Goods to Iran, says Aghan Official
DID Press: The United Arab Emirates(UAE) has blocked the transit of Afghan traders’ goods to Iran, said a member of the board of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment.

Khan Jan Alokozai said the UAE has prevented the transfer of goods belonging to Afghan traders from Jebel Ali Port to Iranian ports, adding, these goods are also not permitted to be transited via Iran to other countries.
Alokozai noted that, amid rising tensions in West Asia, Afghanistan’s trade and transit network in the region is facing serious disruptions, with thousands of containers belonging to Afghanistan traders remaining stuck at Jebel Ali Port.
According to him, around six months ago, nearly 15,000 containers of Afghan traders’ goods were also held up at Karachi Port, resulting in heavy storage costs and taxes imposed on the cargo owners, forcing many traders to abandon part of their goods.
According to Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment board member, part of these containers has been transported to Afghanistan via Bandar Abbas Port, Chabahar Port, and Jebel Ali routes, but the majority of the cargo is still stranded at Jebel Ali Port.
UAE authorities have reportedly restricted these transit movements, while traders continue to face logistical and financial pressure. Afghanistan’s trade corridors in the region remain significantly disrupted.
