12 Killed in Pakistan Army Operation in Balochistan

DID Press: Pakistan’s military says a security clearance operation in the “Nosham” area of Barkhan district in Balochistan ended with the deaths of five Pakistani security personnel, including a senior officer, and seven suspected Baloch separatist fighters.

According to a statement by the military’s media wing, the operation was carried out jointly by the army and Frontier Corps forces as part of an intensified campaign against insurgent groups operating in the province. Pakistani authorities described the slain militants as “India-backed separatists.”

The military said a significant cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also seized during the clashes, adding that follow-up clearance operations remain underway in nearby areas to eliminate any remaining threats.

Islamabad says the operation is part of the broader “Azm-e-Istehkam” security campaign aimed at countering a renewed wave of militant and separatist attacks in Balochistan, where violence targeting security forces and state infrastructure has increased in recent years.

Security analysts say instability along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and the resurgence of armed groups since the Taliban’s 2021 return to power have contributed to worsening insecurity in the province.
