Iran–Taliban Officials Discuss Border Trade Facilitation in Farah Province

DID Press: Local authorities in Farah province and representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran have held a meeting at the border area to discuss expanding economic cooperation and easing obstacles in cross-border trade and transport.

The governor of Farah, along with a number of local officials, met with Iranian representatives at the shared border point to review bilateral trade issues and mechanisms for improving the movement of goods between the two sides.

Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening economic relations and addressed key challenges related to customs procedures, transport logistics, and border clearance delays.

Officials from Iran and Afghanistan also discussed enhancing infrastructure cooperation, improving transit systems, and accelerating customs documentation processes to facilitate legal trade flows.

The two delegations stressed the need for closer coordination between customs, transport, and trade authorities to support regional commerce and improve economic conditions for local communities.

The governor of Farah expressed appreciation for Iran’s engagement in strengthening border cooperation, stating that such meetings contribute to expanding trade opportunities and improving economic stability for residents on both sides of the border.

Iranian representatives also reaffirmed their readiness to continue cooperation with Afghan authorities to remove existing barriers and further develop trade infrastructure and cross-border transport systems.
