Pakistani Forces Kill 25 Militants in Joint Operation in Bannu

DID Press: Pakistani security sources say at least 25 militants, including two senior commanders, were killed during a joint operation by police and a local peace committee in Bannu district.

According to security officials, the operation was launched in the Miryan area of Bannu after reports emerged about the presence and activities of armed groups in the region.

The operation led to heavy clashes between police forces, members of a local peace committee, and suspected militants.

Reports said at least 25 militants were killed, including two commanders identified as “Zamari Noor” and “Abdullah,” whom authorities described as key figures among militant groups operating in the area.

During the exchange of fire, two police officers and two civilians were killed, while 10 others — including seven police personnel and three civilians — were wounded and transferred to medical centers for treatment.

At the same time, police forces reportedly discovered and defused a remotely controlled bomb weighing around 10 kilograms near the Gul Zaman Mosque along the Bannu–Miranshah road.

Security officials said the device could have caused mass casualties if detonated.

In a separate incident, unidentified gunmen attacked members of a local peace committee in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan district.

According to police, four committee members were killed after their vehicle was ambushed near the village of Atal Sharif.

Authorities said security forces launched a large-scale search operation and established checkpoints in the area following the attack. No group has so far claimed responsibility.
