Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan Dismantle Drug Trafficking Network Linked to Afghanistan

DID Press: Authorities in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan have announced the dismantling of a cross-border drug trafficking network allegedly operating through routes linked to Afghanistan.

The Kyrgyz Ministry of Internal Affairs said anti-narcotics units, in coordination with Kazakh security agencies, identified and disrupted the transnational network as part of a joint regional operation aimed at blocking drug transit routes across Central Asia.

Officials reported that several suspects were arrested during the operation. They added that regional cooperation to combat drug trafficking and transnational organized crime will continue to expand in the coming period.

Authorities did not provide detailed information on the scale of seizures or the identities of those detained.

Afghanistan has long been identified by regional governments as a key source of illicit narcotics, while Central Asian states have intensified coordinated efforts in recent years to curb trafficking through shared border corridors.
