DID Press: Rodolphe Haykal, commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, has arrived in Pakistan on an official visit for talks with Asim Munir.

In a statement, the Lebanese Armed Forces said the visit was undertaken at the official invitation of Pakistan’s army chief.
Meanwhile, a source familiar with the matter told Agence France-Presse that the trip is linked to Pakistan’s mediation efforts concerning ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States aimed at reducing regional tensions and ending conflicts in the Middle East.
The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that “Lebanon is an important part of these negotiations.”
The visit comes as Lebanon’s military recently reported that three Lebanese soldiers were killed in an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon.
It also follows reports that Lebanese and Israeli representatives meeting in Washington this week announced a new conditional ceasefire arrangement, although violations have reportedly continued.
No further details have been released regarding the agenda of talks between Haykal and Asim Munir.
