Iran’s Supreme Leader Offers Condolences Following Death of Ayatollah Fayyad

DID Press: Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei issued a message expressing sorrow over the passing of Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Ishaq Fayyad, paying tribute to his scholarly, religious, and educational contributions and extending condolences to the religious establishment in Najaf, his followers, admirers, the people of Afghanistan, and his family.

In the message, he said the death of Ayatollah Fayyad had brought deep sorrow and placed religious seminaries, particularly the seminary of Najaf, into mourning.

He praised the late cleric’s decades of presence in Najaf, his studies under senior scholars including Abu al-Qasim al-Khoei, as well as his role in educating students, authoring religious works, guiding followers, and contributing to the scholarly life of the seminary.

The message described these efforts as a lasting legacy whose impact would continue beyond his lifetime.

He further extended condolences to the seminary community in Najaf, followers and admirers of the late marja, and especially to the people of Afghanistan and Ayatollah Fayyad’s family.

The message concluded with prayers for the elevation of the late scholar’s status and patience and strength for those mourning his passing.
