DID Press: Iranian officials have finalized key arrangements for the funeral ceremonies of the “Martyr Leader,” confirming that funeral prayers will be held in both Tehran and Qom, while the burial ceremony will take place at the holy shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad.
According to Pourjamshidian, secretary of the organizing committee for the farewell and funeral ceremonies, prayers for the “Martyr Leader” and his family will be conducted in Tehran and the holy city of Qom. He said one of Iran’s senior Shiite clerics will lead the prayer service in Qom, with the final schedule and details to be announced later by the Office of the Supreme Leader.
Officials also reported significant international media interest in the event. More than 300 foreign journalists have so far registered to cover the ceremonies, and special press briefings may be held if required.
Regarding the burial arrangements, Pourjamshidian said the interment will be conducted in a limited and orderly setting at the shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad. He added that the burial site has been selected to ensure convenient access for future visitors while avoiding disruption to the flow of pilgrims at the shrine.
