Uzbekistan, Qatar Discuss Cooperation to Support Afghanistan

DID Press: Uzbekistan and Qatar have discussed expanding bilateral cooperation and supporting Afghanistan’s sustainable development, reaffirming their commitment to joint efforts aimed at promoting stability, economic growth, and regional connectivity.

According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions took place during a meeting between Ismatulla Irgashev, Uzbekistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, and Hassan Hamza Hashem, Qatar’s ambassador to Uzbekistan.

The ministry said the two sides reviewed opportunities to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, transport, logistics, and humanitarian and cultural initiatives that could contribute to improving Afghanistan’s social and economic conditions. Regional developments and enhanced coordination on Afghanistan-related issues were also discussed.

According to the statement, the Qatari side praised Tashkent’s continued efforts to support Afghanistan’s reconstruction and economic development, highlighting Uzbekistan’s role in promoting dialogue, regional connectivity, and stability across Central Asia.

Both parties concluded the meeting by emphasizing the importance of strengthening Uzbekistan-Qatar relations, maintaining constructive consultations on Afghanistan, and working together to advance peace, economic development, and regional integration.
