Sweden Allocates $5.26M in New Aid for Afghanistan

DID Press: Afghanistan Trust Fund has announced that Sweden has allocated $5.26 million in new assistance to support vulnerable communities and strengthen development projects in Afghanistan.

The fund stated that the contribution will be used to expand access to essential services and enhance resilience among populations facing ongoing humanitarian and economic challenges.

Afghanistan continues to face widespread difficulties, including economic instability, limited healthcare and education services, and growing humanitarian needs, with a significant portion of the population dependent on external assistance.

The Afghanistan Trust Fund said the Swedish contribution will be implemented within existing cooperation frameworks aimed at supporting critical public service delivery and development initiatives.

Sweden has remained one of the active international donors for Afghanistan in recent years, focusing its assistance on education, healthcare, and support for vulnerable groups. Last year, it also allocated approximately $6.5 million in aid to the country.
