DID Press: A former official of Israel’s domestic security agency, Shin Bet, said the large funeral ceremonies held in Iran represent a demonstration of the country’s state power rather than an ordinary public event.
The former official said the scale of the crowds indicates that the Iranian authorities continue to maintain control over public spaces and retain the ability to mobilize large numbers of supporters.
“These scenes show us how powerful they are,” the former Shin Bet official said, describing the public turnout as evidence of the state’s organizational capacity.
