P-1, P-2 Afghan Applicants Urge Urgent US Action

DID Press: Afghan refugees in Pakistan holding US P-1 and P-2 refugee cases have called for immediate action from Washington, warning that the approaching deportation deadline could place their lives at serious risk.

The appeal came during a gathering in Peshawar attended by applicants and their family members. Organizers said the event was held at an undisclosed location because of security concerns and fears of arrest.

Participants said women, men, children, and elderly family members joined the peaceful gathering to seek urgent protection and a resolution to their cases.

They warned that Pakistan’s 10 July 2026 deadline for the deportation of Afghan migrants has heightened fears among P-1 and P-2 applicants, stressing that returning them to Afghanistan could expose many to serious security risks.

The demonstrators urged the US government, Congress, and the State Department to engage immediately with Pakistan, halt deportations, and resume and accelerate the processing and relocation of P-1 and P-2 refugee cases.

The gathering comes as thousands of Afghan nationals remain in Pakistan facing uncertainty following the suspension of refugee processing and resettlement programs.
