DID Press: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it launched missile and drone strikes against US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait in what it described as an “initial response” to alleged US airstrikes on southern Iran.

In a statement issued early Wednesday, the IRGC accused United States Central Command of violating a ceasefire and breaching what it referred to as the “Islamabad understanding.” It claimed the US strikes targeted locations in Iran’s Hormozgan Province and the city of Mahshahr, and alleged they were intended to overshadow the funeral ceremonies of the Martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
According to the statement, the IRGC’s Aerospace Force and Navy jointly targeted 85 US military sites, including facilities at Salman Port, the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, and Ali Al Salem Air Base.
The IRGC also claimed it had shot down a US MQ-9 drone that it said was attempting to interfere with the operation.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s military confirmed that its air defense systems had been activated in response to missile and drone threats, while reports said warning sirens sounded in Bahrain. US officials had not issued an immediate response to the IRGC’s statement at the time of publication.
