Cash-Filled Bags Recovered From Sewage Pit in Iraq Corruption Probe

DID Press: Iraqi authorities have reportedly recovered several bags containing cash from a sewage pit at the residence of former Iraqi Deputy Oil Minister Adnan al-Jumaili, as part of an ongoing corruption investigation.

Al-Jumaili was previously arrested on allegations of financial corruption and embezzlement. As the investigation has progressed, several other Iraqi officials have also been detained on suspicion of involvement in a broader corruption network and the misuse of public funds.

Judicial and security authorities describe the case as one of Iraq’s most significant anti-corruption investigations in recent years. Investigations into the full scope of the alleged corruption scheme remain ongoing.
