DID Press: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for missile strikes targeting U.S. military assets in Jordan, including transport aircraft at Aqaba Airport and facilities at Al Azraq Air Base, while also claiming support from local intelligence sources in Jordan.
In its Statement No. 31, the IRGC said its Aerospace Force carried out the 21st wave of Operation Nasr 2, thanking what it described as the support of Jordanian citizens and members of the Jordanian military in providing intelligence.
According to the statement, the operation was conducted under the codename “Ya Ruqayyah (PBUH)” and dedicated to children killed in what Iran refers to as the “Third Imposed War.” The IRGC claimed that ballistic missiles struck U.S. military C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft and P-8 Poseidon command-and-surveillance aircraft at Aqaba Airport, causing heavy damage.
The statement further claimed that, based on intelligence allegedly provided by Jordanian sources, Iranian forces destroyed 20 facilities used by U.S. troops at Al Azraq Air Base, resulting in the deaths of dozens of American service members.
The IRGC also accused the United States of decades of military intervention across the Middle East and of supporting Israel’s military operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. It reiterated its position that U.S. military personnel deployed in the region are legitimate targets under its interpretation of Islamic law.
