Construction Accelerates on 51-km Qosh Tepa–Darzab Road in Northern Afghanistan

DID Press: Taliban officials say construction of the 51-km Qosh Tepa–Darzab road in Afghanistan’s northern Jawzjan Province is progressing rapidly, with work underway simultaneously across three sections of the project. Valued at more than AFN 1.5 billion, the road is expected to improve transportation, facilitate trade, and strengthen regional connectivity.

According to the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works, the project has entered an accelerated implementation phase after contracts worth AFN 1.513 billion were awarded to private companies. Engineering teams are currently working on all three sections of the highway.

Officials said the completion of the road will improve mobility for local residents, expand transport networks, boost commercial activity, and enhance regional links across northern Afghanistan.

The highway is also expected to improve access between the districts of Qosh Tepa, Darzab, Belcheragh, and Gurzivan, reducing travel times and supporting the movement of goods and people.

The Qosh Tepa–Darzab Road Project is regarded as one of the key infrastructure initiatives in northern Afghanistan, aimed at strengthening the country’s transportation network, expanding economic connectivity, and supporting regional trade.
