Afghanistan Issues Flash Flood Warning for 10 Provinces Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

DID Press: Afghanistan’s Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, flash floods, and strong winds across 10 provinces on Tuesday, urging residents in vulnerable areas to take precautionary measures.

According to the Taliban-run Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, the provinces of Badakhshan, Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar, Logar, Paktia, Khost, Paktika, and Ghazni are expected to experience severe weather conditions. Rainfall totals are forecast to range between 10 mm and 30 mm across different parts of the affected provinces.

The meteorological authority also warned that strong winds are likely to affect central, eastern, southeastern, western, and northern regions of the country. Wind speeds are expected to range between 50 km/h and 100 km/h, potentially reducing visibility, damaging light structures, and disrupting transportation.

Authorities urged residents—particularly those living in mountainous areas and along riverbanks—to remain vigilant and take necessary safety precautions due to the heightened risk of flash flooding and hazardous weather conditions. Citizens were advised to avoid traveling through or remaining in flood-prone areas and river channels until conditions improve.
