Kabul Flyover Project Reaches Major Construction Milestone

DID Press: Construction of the Baraki Intersection flyover and underpass in Kabul is advancing rapidly, with Taliban authorities reporting significant progress on one of the capital’s largest urban infrastructure projects aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving transport connectivity.

According to the Taliban’s Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the 700-meter-long and 20-meter-wide flyover has reached 50% completion, while construction of the underpass has advanced to 85%, placing the project in its final phase.

The project is being financed with AFN 1.5 billion from the Taliban government’s budget and has created employment for approximately 1,400 workers during its construction, officials said.

Taliban authorities stated that once completed, the project is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion at the Baraki Intersection and improve traffic flow between central and southern Kabul. They described the initiative as part of broader efforts to modernize the capital’s transport infrastructure and improve urban mobility.
