Herat Factory Produces 15 Tons of Qurut Daily for EU, US Markets

DID Press: A food production company in Afghanistan’s western Herat Province is producing 15 tons of qurut-based kashk every day and exporting its products to European countries and the United States, creating direct employment for around 200 people.

Khuban Production Company in Herat said it manufactures 15 tons of kashk from sheep-based qurut daily and supplies both domestic and international markets. Ehsanullah Khwajazadah, the company’s chief executive, said the factory operates in five additional production sectors and offers a range of food products for local and foreign consumers.

Khwajazadah said about 90% of the company’s raw materials are sourced from Afghanistan’s domestic agricultural and livestock sectors, adding that the factory represents an investment of approximately $5 million and has created direct employment opportunities for about 200 workers.

Officials from the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines said locally produced goods meet quality standards and are packaged according to international requirements for export markets.

Khuban is among Herat’s active food-processing companies, producing tomato paste, jam, kashk, canned foods, fruit preserves, and various sauces, with part of its production exported to global markets.
