DID Press: Iran has announced that foreign nationals residing in the country will be allowed to begin their Arbaeen pilgrimage travel from the 10th of Safar, alongside Iranian pilgrims, as part of efforts to ease the movement of international visitors and reduce congestion at border crossings.
Morteza Aghaei, head of the Registration and Dispatch Committee of Iran’s Central Arbaeen Headquarters, said foreign residents will no longer need to postpone their departure until the final days of the pilgrimage period and can travel through designated border points from the start of the Arbaeen operation.
He said the decision was made to facilitate the departure process for non-Iranian pilgrims and prevent overcrowding during peak travel days. According to Aghaei, all designated border crossings are prepared to receive foreign pilgrims, with necessary coordination completed among relevant authorities.
Aghaei added that the Central Arbaeen Headquarters, in cooperation with Iran’s Ministry of Interior and other government agencies, is working to ensure that the movement of pilgrims from different countries is carried out in an organized and secure manner.
