DID Press: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) held a joint border security meeting in Pakistan, with officials calling for closer regional coordination to address emerging security threats.
According to a statement from the CSTO, the 12th SCO Border Security Meeting was attended by a CSTO delegation led by Andrey Serdyukov, Chief of the Joint Staff of the organization.
Serdyukov stressed the importance of the timely identification of security crises and stronger coordination among international organizations to safeguard regional stability and collective security.
On the sidelines of the meeting, CSTO representatives held talks with officials from the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS), the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, and the Council of Border Commanders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Discussions focused on expanding joint efforts to combat security threats and strengthen border protection.
Pakistan, as a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, hosted the periodic border security meeting, while the CSTO participated as a regional security partner.
