UN Rights Expert Calls for Immediate Release of Six Women’s Rights Workers

DID Press: Richard Bennett, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan, has expressed concern over the Taliban’s detention of six employees of the Women and Children Legal Research Foundation in Kabul and called for their immediate release.

Bennett said the six employees have been arbitrarily detained for 21 days and that no charges have so far been brought against them in court.

Expressing serious concern over their continued detention, Bennett urged the Taliban to release the six workers immediately.
