United Front Claims Killing of Taliban Morality Official in Kandahar

DID Press: United Front of Afghanistan said on Saturday that its fighters targeted and killed a Taliban official from the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice at a park in Aino Mina township in Kandahar.

The group released a video purportedly showing the attack and said Taliban morality officials would henceforth be considered military targets, accusing them of using violence and humiliation against young people.

In a statement, the United Front alleged that officials from the Taliban’s morality ministry beat, tortured and humiliated young people. The group said the reported attack was its first operation targeting officials from the ministry.

The Taliban has not publicly commented on the reported incident.
